KGNS-TV the NBC affiliate in Laredo, Texas is looking for an energetic, organized and enterprising sports director/anchor. The person hired will be responsible for coordinating local sports coverage for the area’s top-rated newscast. Laredo is one of the fastest growing cities in Texas and home to three professional sports teams including the two-time CHL Champion Laredo Bucks Hockey team, the 2007 PDL Champion Laredo Heat Soccer Club, and the Laredo Broncos Baseball Team. High school football rules fall sports in Texas and Laredo is no exception. From September to December the Pro 8 Sports Team produces Friday Football Fever, the area’s most complete coverage of high school football. The person hired will lead the writing, producing, shooting and anchoring of the show. A degree in the communications-related field in preferred. Prior experience in broadcast journalism preferred.
